Quick answer
What does an n8n automation agency do?
An n8n automation agency designs, builds and maintains n8n workflows and AI agents for a business, on n8n Cloud or a self-hosted server. It adds the error handling, retries, logging and credential management that keep workflows reliable in production, then hands over full ownership of the instance and workflows to your team.
- n8n has a visual editor plus JavaScript or Python steps when no-code is not enough.
- n8n Cloud bills per workflow execution, regardless of how many steps a run contains.
- Self-hosted n8n runs on your own infrastructure under n8n's fair-code license.
- Projects typically take one to six weeks, with a first stage live early.
01
What is n8n and who is it for?
n8n is a workflow automation platform with a visual editor, hundreds of built-in integrations and the option to drop into JavaScript or Python whenever a no-code step is not enough. It is distributed under a fair-code license, which means you can run it on your own infrastructure as well as on n8n's hosted cloud.
It suits teams that have outgrown simple two-step automations, that want more control over where their data lives, or that run high volumes where per-step pricing gets expensive. It is also one of the stronger platforms for building AI agents, with native nodes for language models, memory, vector stores and tool calling.
02
Why work with an n8n agency
n8n is flexible, and that flexibility cuts both ways. Workflows that work in testing can fail quietly in production because of missing error handling, rate limits, pagination or credentials that expire. An n8n agency brings the patterns that keep workflows reliable: retries, error workflows, logging, idempotent writes and clear naming so the next person can follow the logic.
We also help you decide what not to build in n8n. Some jobs are better as a small Python service, a database view or a feature already inside your CRM. A good n8n consultant will tell you that up front rather than forcing everything into one tool.
WHAT WE BUILD
What we automate
Typical automations, each scoped and quoted at a fixed price after a free review.
AI support agent
An n8n AI Agent node answers customer questions from your help docs stored in a vector database, creates a ticket in Zendesk or Freshdesk when it cannot answer, and logs every conversation.
CRM to accounting sync
When a deal is marked won in HubSpot or Pipedrive, n8n creates the customer and invoice in QuickBooks Online or Xero and posts a confirmation to Slack.
Document intake pipeline
PDFs arriving by email or upload are parsed with an AI model, validated against business rules and written to Postgres or Airtable, with exceptions sent for review.
Scheduled reporting
Every morning n8n pulls data from ads, CRM and billing APIs, cleans it and loads it into BigQuery or Google Sheets for a Looker Studio or Power BI dashboard.
Internal webhook API
A webhook workflow gives your other apps one endpoint to create records, check status or trigger jobs, with authentication and logging built in.
Error alerting workflow
A central error workflow catches failures from every other workflow, groups them and alerts the owner in Slack or email with the failed input attached.
Zapier or Make migration
Existing Zaps or Make scenarios are rebuilt in n8n with the same triggers and outputs, tested side by side, then switched over.
03
What our n8n developers build
Our n8n developers work across the same kinds of problems most growing businesses have: data moving between systems by hand, reports assembled from several exports, and inboxes or forms that need someone to read and act on them. With n8n's AI nodes, many of these can now include a reasoning step, such as classifying a request or extracting fields from a document.
We build sub-workflows for shared logic, use environment variables and credentials properly, and keep workflows in version control so changes can be reviewed and rolled back.
- Multi-system integrations between CRM, ERP, accounting and support tools
- AI agents with tool calling, memory and retrieval over your documents
- Webhook-based APIs and internal endpoints for other apps to call
- Scheduled data syncs and reporting pipelines into Sheets, BigQuery or Postgres
- Migrations of existing Zapier or Make automations into n8n
04
Self-hosted n8n vs n8n Cloud
n8n Cloud is billed by workflow executions, where one run of a workflow counts as one execution no matter how many steps it contains. That model is usually more predictable than per-task pricing for long, multi-step workflows. n8n handles hosting, updates and uptime.
Self-hosted n8n runs on a server you control, such as a VPS, AWS, Azure or Google Cloud. The Community Edition has no execution-based license fee, so your main costs are the server and the time to maintain it. Paid self-hosted plans add features like SSO, environments and advanced permissions. Self-hosting gives you control over data residency and scaling, but someone needs to own updates, backups and monitoring.
- Choose n8n Cloud if you want the least maintenance
- Choose self-hosted n8n for data control, high volume or private network access
- We set up Docker, Postgres, queue mode workers, SSL and backups for self-hosted builds
- Note that n8n's license limits offering n8n itself as a hosted service to third parties
05
Hiring an n8n consultant or n8n expert
Some teams already have n8n running and need an n8n expert to review it, fix fragile workflows or add AI capability. Others need an n8n consultant to plan the architecture before anything is built. We do both, and the scope is agreed up front so you know exactly what you are paying for.
Typical review work includes finding workflows with no error handling, credentials shared across environments, polling where a webhook would be cheaper, and AI steps with no guardrails on their output.
06
How an n8n project works and what it costs
We start with a free review of the processes you want automated and the systems involved. You then get a fixed-price proposal with a staged plan, typically 1 to 6 weeks depending on scope. The first stage usually goes live within the first one or two weeks so you see results early.
Everything is built in your n8n instance and your accounts. At handover you get documentation, exported workflow files and a walkthrough. If you want us to monitor and update the workflows afterwards, we can agree a support arrangement, but it is optional.

FAQ
n8n Automation Agency questions
What does an n8n automation agency do?
An n8n automation agency plans, builds and maintains workflows in n8n for you. That includes setting up the instance, connecting your apps, adding error handling and AI steps, and documenting everything so your team can manage it later.
Is self-hosted n8n free?
The self-hosted Community Edition has no license fee for internal business use, so you pay mainly for the server and maintenance. Some features, such as SSO and advanced permissions, need a paid plan. The license also restricts reselling n8n itself as a hosted service.
Should I use n8n Cloud or self-host n8n?
n8n Cloud is simpler because n8n handles hosting and updates, and it is billed by executions. Self-hosting suits teams that need data control, access to private systems or very high volumes, and that are comfortable owning updates and backups.
Is n8n better than Zapier?
It depends on the job. n8n is typically more cost-effective for complex, high-volume workflows and offers self-hosting and code steps, while Zapier is easier for non-technical users and has a larger catalog of ready-made integrations. We help you choose during the free review.
Can n8n build AI agents?
Yes. n8n has native AI Agent nodes that can call language models, use tools such as HTTP requests or database queries, keep memory and search your documents. We add guardrails and logging so agent output is checked before it affects real records.
How long does it take to hire an n8n developer and go live?
After the free review and fixed quote, a first workflow often goes live within one to two weeks. Larger builds with several systems or a self-hosted setup typically take three to six weeks, delivered in stages.
Can you fix or take over our existing n8n workflows?
Yes. We start with a review of your current workflows, list what is fragile or missing, and quote a fixed price to fix it. We can also take on ongoing maintenance if you want.
